A veteran tree is a highly valued tree due to its age, size or condition. These characteristics give it a huge conservation value. Such trees need to be managed and protected using techniques totally different to those used for general tree work. Veteran tree management priorities are different. The emphasis is on creating habitat within the tree, retaining safe deadwood as habitat and preserving the tree for as long as possible.
TreeAbility have extensive experience of veteran tree management. This is done using techniques such as natural fracture pruning, haloing, coronet cutting, monolithing, and standing deadwood creation.
We are happy to survey and advise on veteran trees and provide the specialist pruning if deemed necessary.
